Hello on a rainy March afternoon.
It’s warming up and the days are getting longer…SPRING! We’ve even gotten some seeds planted indoors to prepare for the vegetable garden(s) and making plans where and when to do the beds.
Our lavender plants survived winter well in all of our locations and we will begin experimenting with doing some propagating of our favorites. Stay tuned!
After our little introductions to the plant we love most we thought we’d share some of the
MANY ways we use the essential oil so you can begin living with lavender.
Using a carrier oil is a good idea to begin using the essential oil.
Good choices include:
Coconut oil-an amazing array of healing qualities all by itself
Jojoba oil-gentle, soothing
Calendula oil-another healing plant oil
Almond oil-softening, soothing
A drop of lavender oil in a tablespoon of carrier oil is a good start.
Rub 2-3 drops of lavender oil in your hand and take several deep breaths through your nose. Instant serenity!
*2. Sleep aid
Again, use the cupping and inhalation method. Then, rub a drop of Lavender oil on your palms and smooth on your pillow to help you sleep.
3. Bee sting / Insect bite
Put a drop of Lavender oil on a bee sting or insect bite to stop itching reduce swelling.
4. Minor burn
Put 2-3 drops Lavender oil on a minor burn to decrease pain. (Emphasis on MINOR burn)
Drop Lavender oil on cut to stop bleeding, clean wound, and kill bacteria.
*For all of the inhalation therapies, crush the head of a lavender wand or sachet.
Who knew, right? Next post will give some more of the ways you may not have thought of yet. Breathe deep! Smell the lavender!
